This creates a natural fire barrier and retardant without the use of harmful chemicals. These mattresses do not contain any form of petroleum or other harmful chemicals that create toxic off-gassing, which can emit gasses which contribute to adverse health effects. Mattresses that are made with plant-based oils, Soy or Castor Oil which are safer make for a much healthier alternative than using petroleum.
