Sleepworks “Voted Best Futon Store” 4 years in a row by Long Island Press

Whether you’re looking for a basic futon mattress, Coil, Organic or something to sleep on every night you’ve found the right place. Sleepworks voted best futon store 4 years in a row by Long Island Press. We have the largest selection on Long Island since 1984. Did you know that futon mattresses can be used on platform beds? Not only are they super comfy but they last for years and are economically less expensive, easier to move and are not like your futon mattress in college!

Save space and have a better night’s sleep with the right futon mattress. Our Futon mattresses are typically made from compressed layers of wool, latex, cotton, innerspring coils, organic memory foam and more. They tend to be similar to regular mattresses, and with proper care and maintenance, they can last up to 20 years. Confusing? not really! All you need is to decide what and who is going to use it. If you are using it for an every night sleeping mattress then you would want a higher quality futon mattress with coils and cotton or materials that last and don’t compact over time.

Types of Futon Mattresses

Futon mattresses come in an array of sizes and comforts, let’s start with the best and work our way down. The design of the mattress and the type of material that it’s made from will influence its overall comfort and durability.

Latex: This is arguably the best you can sleep on, it conforms to your body and lasts the longest. It’s also hypo-allergenic, anti-microbial and the cleanest eco-friendly rubber foam you can find and is temperature neutral (won’t sleep hot).

Memory Foam/Gel: memory foam futon mattresses have a feeling all their own, a denser feel with no springiness, Memory foam is a love or hate feeling! Most people do not settle, they love it or hate it. Memory foam mattresses for some tend to sleep hot, so lay on it for a good while and make sure.

Innerspring: Now here we have a wide selection, Innerspring (also known as Coils) come in many comforts, Pocketed coils where the coils are individually wrapped for less motion transfer and higher support. Marshall coils or comfort coil are coils with cotton and or foam on top and bottom of the spring system. These can be comfy at a lower price and are very much used for guest rooms, futon as a sofa or sporadic sleeping.

Cotton: Cotton futon mattresses are the least expensive, more firm and make great once in a while sleeping and or den couch unless you like a harder feel. Not to be confused with “Certified Organic Cotton and Wool Futon Mattresses” those are made different that makes them last much longer and have a higher and loftier feel.

Whatever you choose, remember that futon mattresses come in all sizes and thicknesses and can be used as a primary platform mattress or on a box spring. You would save money by purchasing a good futon mattress and HEY, it’s double sided so go for it.
