Terra Certified Organic Mattress
The OrganicPedic® Terra mattress at Sleepworks New York is a four-sided, 12” sculpted-surface pillow-top mattress. It starts with a 3” core of firm, supportive latex. The core is joined with two inches of softer latex on the top and bottom. All natural rubber layers are GOLS-certified organic and are finished with our signature OrganicPedic® quilted cover. A removable two-sided pillow top (3½” deep) — also made of GOLS-certified organic natural rubber latex — is then placed on the mattress. The pillow top is made with two surface options: our exclusive sculpted surface on one side, and a flat surface on the other. This provides sleepers with maximum comfort and flexibility. The pillow top is fully covered with our signature OrganicPedic® quilting and attached to the mattress with our exclusive “button-down” process.

Detailed Description
USDA/NOP
While there is still no USDA organic standard for manufactured mattress cores (regardless of what you see on the web), USDA/NOP certification does provide a third-party raw-material assurance for latex sap. The rubber trees and the sap they produce for our latex (rubber) cores is certified by a USDA organic certifier and tracked throughout the distribution and manufacturing process to ensure purity of the final cores.
Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS)
OMI’s latex mattresses are certified to the Global Organic Latex Standard. Peterson Control Union, a globally recognized organic certifier, developed GOLS based on their years of experience certifying organic products in other industries, including foods and textiles. This certification ensures that all latex materials, finished products, and manufacturing processes adhere to strict and specific global organic standards.
IMO – Institute for Marketecology
IMO, the Institute for Marketecology, certifies cotton thread to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). IMO is one of the first and most-respected international agencies for the inspection, certification, and quality assurance of eco-friendly products.
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
OMI uses the highest-quality certified organic wool and cotton raw materials and fabric available, which are certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) by Control Union. The aim of the Standard is to define requirements that ensure the organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing all the way up to labeling, in order to provide credible organic assurance to the end consumer.
American-Grown NOP-Certified Organic Cotton
Our certified organic cotton is certified by the Texas Department of Agriculture to be in compliance with growing and handling standards set by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP). OMI uses the finest quality cotton grades available even though no consumer ever sees the raw materials inside our products.
Natural Rubber Latex from Rubber Trees, Not Petroleum
Certified by Oeko-Tex to be free of harmful substances, the natural rubber in our mattress cores comes from sustainably harvested rubber-tree sap. This organization tests consumer products for the presence of a predeterminedlist of chemicals. IT IS NOT A TEST OF what chemicals are emitting from a product. Only a true emissions test, such as UL/Greenguard, actually measures what is coming out of a product versus what is not there. UL/GREENGUARD® Tested and Certified OMI mattresses meet the stringent criteria of the UL/GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) for low VOC emissions, and are eligible for LEED credits. OMI even passes UL/GREENGUARD’s most stringent requirements, the Gold Certification Program, for products designed to be used for children and schools. We have continued to do so year after year with test values (BQL) below quantifiable levels. In 2006, an OMI OrganicPedic® mattress was the first to be certified by UL/GREENGUARD for low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions based on UL/GREENGUARD’s strict purity standards. OMI emissions results from chamber testing can be found Our Eco-Factory™ – a large-scale, GOTS-certified sleep-products manufacturing facility – has its own proprietary ozone cleaning chambers that reduce naturally occurring contaminants such as mold and mildew spores, yeasts, and bacteria that may have “hitchhiked” from the field or storage facility on raw materials. OMI is the only organic mattress company to sanitize their certified organic raw materials to ensure consumers of our purity. SELF-MADE SEAL TO INDICATE OUR UNIQUE PROCESS Proudly Made in the USA
Every OMI certified organic mattress is handmade in our Eco-Factory™, located in Northern California. We are the only manufacturer that sanitizes its certified organic raw materials, making sure we are offering the purest products available. Just because raw materials are grown pesticide free doesn’t not mean that they have not been exposed to contaminates in the field, transit, or storage prior to use. OMI was the first company to create a non-chemical method to sanitize their certified organic mattress materials. Flame Retardant OMI mattresses meet all federal and state, as well as Canadian, flammability requirements without the use of chemical fire retardants. Our mattresses were tested by the CPSC in May 2008 and again in 2014, and meet all flammability performance criteria under CPSC Statutes 1632 and 1633, as well as all new children’s regulations (16 CFR 1110, lot tracking, LEAD, and phthalates).
